I'm a lady

Ha Ha Ha Ha

If you tittered at that then perhaps Little Britain Live is for you. I was invited to go as some friends had a spare ticket. I do enjoy Little Britain and was curious to see how it would be performed live. Wouldn’t have called myself a fan (the third season passed me by) but i enjoy it, think some of it is clever and original.

Though this brings me to my gripe about the show. What were original comedy scenarios become repetitive predictable jokes. Where as soon as you see the characters you know what is going to happen.

I can’t commend the sets enough. Not that they were really sets, it was mainly a stiff screen which received a hires projection onto it. There were doors cut in the white screen so that when a sketch required it, they could open the projected doors. It wasn’t just this simple gimmick, the transition between scenes and locations during the set were very well thought out (accompanied by new Tom Baker voice overs). Real stage props were pulled out and reflected the movement onscreen. The graphical style of the animations was kinda cut and paste, then mashed in after effects with lots of 3d zooms and elements sliding into view (slightly shoe-box theatre, but hi-tech)

Matt and David perform all the favorites and they say all the lines they are supposed to. The more amusing bit was when then digressed from the script….. but me thinks that even that was scripted i.e. “Matt and I will chat about shit for a few minutes then carry on”

I guess i was not a big enough Little Britain fan, i laughed the first time I saw the jokes on tv. My favorite character is Vicky Pollard, apart from her “yeah but no but” bits her dialogue is different and funny.

Oh well. Was pleased i saw it and i did enjoy, I just wasn’t rolling about in tears, perhaps my snotty cold didn’t help either.
