Mobiles phones are great, we use them everyday to keep in touch, we are bombarded with ads constantly trying to either get us to switch networks or stay with our current network. Phones continuously change yet fail to provide any major upgrade that is any use. Using a phone as a music device is a great idea, being able to plug your headphones in and listen to the radio, or a few mp3s on your trip to and from work.
However the last couple of phone generations allow you to play sounds through an internal speaker. And on about 8 out of ten bus trips I make there is someone who thinks that I and the rest of the bus want to listen to their music. A few issues, the first being the quality is absolutely appauling and makes the bad music sound even worse, the second being BUY SOME HEADPHONES. It really gets on my tits. This morning at 8.20 I had to endure hearing about shorties and their pussies, guns and niggers. The quality of the rapping was very diy, perhaps it’s the persons own work and they are hoping that a hip hop record exec will scout them out. It’s not the genre of music I have problems with, I can appreaciate all types of music (though I don’t have too much respect for the churned out rap that constantly name drops, or talks about shorties and their pussies, guns and niggers…. oh and weed, thats always a popular topic to “spit” about)
It’s not just boys either, the girls do their fair share of playing Beyonce and warbeling along to it.
It a matter of respect for your fellow passengers, and it’s taking advantage of the fact that “we look like mean and angry fuckers”. If I was a mean bastard and built like a shithouse I would happily approach them and threaten to chuck the phone out of the window. Or bring along some real speakers and blast them with some Broadway tunes for my listening pleasure. It would only take one person, the rest of the bus would agree. But I’m not a confrontational person, so I just sit their fuming, unable to enjoy my book.
It’s plain rude and an act of disrespect, maybe even aggression? If I sat there swearing, that would be considered aggressive, as I would only be doing it to see if someone would confront me about it and then kick off when they do.
Grrr.
